Our History
Barbara Rees is a well respected and long established independent estate agency and property management company, with a flexible and broad remit, in terms of the type and volume of business that we undertake. Our core services include, residential and commercial property sales and lettings, a complete property management service, business transfer section, new homes and land sales / acquisition, plus a planning and design consultancy.
In addition, we operate an in house maintenance, building and refurbishment facility, as well as linked professional services from Surveying through to Independent Financial and Mortgage advice, plus Legal Services and Overseas Property, via our preferred partner companies.
Barbara Rees was originally set up and founded in 1984 by Barbara & Jacqueline Rees, whilst J. Paul Rees initially held a consultancy role, to provide financial services to our clients. The head office was opened on Crwys Road in Cathays Cardiff, where we still remain to this day.
J. Paul Rees & Julie Rees later joined the business in a full time capacity, hence, it really is, a true family business that goes that extra mile, to offer our clients a personal, professional and caring service. By 1991, selectively targeted growth, diversification and expansion of our activities gave rise to a strategic review and re-structure of our business model, thus leading to the incorporation and segmentation of the business, to more accurately reflect our overall and individual group activities.
Solid management and key person appointments were made (all from within our family) and this facilitated wider representation to serve South Wales, Cardiff, the A470 & M4 corridors that lead to Pontypridd, Llantrisant, the Valleys and all areas to the North West of Cardiff.
Indeed, we are proud of our roots, heritage and tradition, as we recognise and appreciate the fact that "most our business is derived from recommendation and referral".
So what of the future, well, Barbara Rees has established a name for quality and personal service and we see no need to change that, but we do recognise the need to change with the times and whilst many independent agent’s, may be pondering their future, Barbara Rees is geared up for the long term, as change always offers opportunity, not adversity.
